Server Scripts (Windows hosting)
The following scripting technologies can be used on your Windows hosting account: ASP, Perl, CGI, ISAPI, SHTML and iHTML
iHTML is the fastest and most powerful technology and is highly recommended.

What do I need to do to get my Perl script to work?
Perl files need to have the extension .pl before they will run on the server. They also need to be in your cgi-bin directory.
Where is sendmail or what is the path to Perl?
We use Windows 2003 servers so the above information is not relevant. Perl was originally a UNIX language and although it runs fine on Windows, there are some changes that are needed. A good site to get information from is http://www.activestate.com.
What components are there installed on the servers?
For ASP, we have the mailing components JMail and CDONTS. We also support the AdRotator and have Persit's ASP Upload. We have the full version of Active State Perl installed but have no other modules installed for it. Blat is also only installed on older Windows 2000 servers as this is now being phased out on our Windows 2003 platform.
Writing your own server side scripts
When writing or configuring scripts, such as Perl or ASP scripts for your website, you may need to know the full physical path to your website's home directory. This path is as follows:
e:\domains\domainname.com\user
where domainname.com is your domain name (without the 'www').

iHTML
iHTML is a powerful server side scripting language. iHTML is an excellent tool for creating dynamic content, and for connecting to ODBC databases. It is very similar to Cold Fusion and Active Server Pages. iHTML is powerful, yet very easy to use. In fact, most iHTML tags look very similar to HTML tags, so learning iHTML is easy.
To use IHTML on a page you need to:
1) place <!iHTML> in the first line
2) Rename the file so the extension is .ihtmli
HTML can do anything that requires server-side activity. iHTML can do everything that ASP, Cold Fusion, and CGI would normally be used for. Since iHTML runs lightning fast, it is often preferable to use iHTML instead of CGI.
iHTML can connect to databases, connect to remote web servers, dynamically format the page, add the current date to an existing page, show the time on a page, write gif files on the fly, execute complex logic statements, and much more. iHTML is considered to be a full language in many respects, since it can do such a wide variety of tasks.

ASP
ASP was developed at Microsoft for use with their IIS web server package. ASP is a powerful tool for creating dynamic content, and for connecting to ODBC databases. Documents that have the .asp extension will be processed as an ASP document.
ASP can connect to databases, dynamically format the page, execute complex logic statements, and much more. We support the use of VBScript, JavaScript, PerlScript and PythonScript within Active Server Pages with VBScript set as the default scripting language.

Perl
We only recommend using Perl if you are not familiar with any of the other technologies supported by us. We use Active State Perl and documentation is available at http://www.activestate.com
